A Message to Our Subscribers & Viewers

Usually, at the end of July, subscription renewals for the following year are sent out. However, this year things are different.

When I took over the website in 2019, the aim was to preserve Gerry’s original vision while updating the site for modern devices, ensuring it worked just as well on smartphones and tablets as it did on desktop computers. I deliberately retained the straightforward layout and familiar features that had served the community so well for many years.
Sadly, the rise of social media has inevitably changed the way people share information. In an age where news, photographs, advertisements, and results can be posted instantly to Facebook and other social media platforms, far fewer people now submit content to dedicated websites. As a result, the amount of fresh material available for shetland-pony.com has steadily declined.

While it is sad to see the website come to an end, we are incredibly proud of what it has achieved over the past 27 years. It has been a valuable resource for countless breeders, owners, exhibitors, and enthusiasts, and I would like to thank everyone who has supported the site over the years—whether by subscribing, advertising, submitting news and results, or simply visiting the website.
The website will remain live until October. If, during that time, someone within the Shetland Pony community—particularly someone actively involved with shows, sales, and the day-to-day activities of the breed—would like to take the website on and give it a fresh lease of life, I would be delighted to hear from you. It would be wonderful to see Gerry Hart’s original vision continue under new stewardship for the benefit of the breed and its enthusiasts.

Until then, thank you once again for your support over the years. It has been a privilege to serve the Shetland Pony community, and I hope the website has played a small part in promoting and preserving this wonderful breed.
