BRIDGWATER REPORT : THE ANNUAL SHOW & SALE OF PEDIGREE SHETLAND & SPOTTED PONIES A reduced entry of 80 pedigree Shetland and Spotted ponies met a difficult trade, in line with the larger horse sale trade generally. However reportedly better than other Shetland sales this season. Top of the day was £997.50 for a 2007 mare Helawi Tootsie Rose from Mrs J Isaacs of Enmore. This stylish homozygous piebald was by Halstock Chesterfield and out of Abbotsbury Finale. She sold to Messrs D & J Hodge & Walters of Okehampton to join the Halstock and Blackertor Studs. Mrs Isaacs continued her dispersal with another mare, Halstock Cognacs Diamante, born 2007, which sold at £756 to Messrs Hodge & Walters again and a 2004 mare, Stepsford Zanadoo, full of Kerswell and Firth lines, which sold at £619.50 to Mrs C Felton of Northampton. Stallions sold to £945 for Parlington Orson, a 2001 32” piebald from Mrs S Kremers of Torquay. A homozygous stallion, he sold to Mr D Hicks of Somerton. A smart bay and white 40” gelding Scotscraig Glen, born 2006 achieved £840 for Mrs M Candy of Corsham. Foals peaked at £525 for Kirkstall Jenny Wren, a dun and white May born filly from Mrs A Swinscow of Totnes. Jenny Wren earlier took first prize in the foal class and was bought by the Corley Oak Stud of Warwickshire. Spotted ponies peaked at £325.50 for a filly foal, Halstock Crystal Rose by Birling Trumpcard from Halstock & Blackertor Studs. Rose sold to Messrs J & K Bowden of Highbridge. |
